Belize's currency is Belize Dollars (BZD). However, US dollars are accepted everywhere at a rate of $2.00 BZD for $1.00 USD provided the bills have no damage, tears, or writing.
Should I pay with cash or credit card?
Small businesses and street vendors usually accept cash only and some give cash discounts for significant purchases when requested. Most restaurants and gift shops, however, accept credit cards. Is there anything I should know about traveling with children?
Activities and tours are family oriented and children are also able to enjoy what Belize has to offer.
The U.S. embassy advises that if children are not traveling with both parents, the U.S. birth certificate of each child may be requested by immigration officers along with a notarized letter from the other parent granting permission to travel. Adoption documentation and death certificates may also be requested where applicable. It is advised to check with the U.S. embassy and have all documentation in order prior to leaving the United States.
