Shop Like A Local In San Pedro Town, Belize
Indulging in local cuisine is a highlight on every vacation, so leave the familiar American fare at the airport and eat, shop and live local in Belize. If culture shock sets in, and you just can’t do without Mr. Captain Crunch for breakfast, many of the markets stock imported US favorites but it comes at a hefty price.
With street vendors on every corner and an ample choice of beach bars and restaurants, you can eat out on a budget in San Pedro Town for the same price as a grocery shop! Maybe even less if street food is your scene!
Downtown San Pedro
Greenhouse is one of the most popular markets with a wide range of local and imported items, homemade pies, local spices and excellent fresh fruit. You’ll find the popular Sausage Factory products and frozen seafood here but will have to shop elsewhere for household or personal products.
Super Buy SUPERMARKET
Look for the large lavender building and you’ve found Super Buy! With another location further south on Sea Grape Drive, of the locals for lower prices and varied selection.
Shop for less at Richie’s Supermarket! Richie’s well stocked and offers a great selection of wines, beers, local rums and liquor. Call and they’ll deliver for free within town.
Across the road from Richie’s is Caye Mart, one of San Pedro’s more popular markets.
San Pedro Supermarket
Location: Laguna Drive, San Pedro
Popularly known for their bright orange exterior and locally known for “Marks store”, Stop in for your supplies or order online – they also offer golf cart rental, so it is one of the convenient stops in San Pedro.
North End of the Island
Having a variety of imported products, this is a convenient one-stop-shop before heading to your destination in the North. You will find all of your familiar products here, and they can also provide delivery for you.
The Beach Basket
Conveniently located on the North road, the Beach Basket offers a variety of local and imported deli meats, a variety of spirits, and known for their popular $20.00 pizza.
Mata Grande Grocery Store
A quaint house with a bright blue door north of San Pedro and closest to Indigo Beach, Mata Grande is a full-service grocery store. For convenience, you can order online, they’ll deliver all your necessities to your vacation rental before you arrive.
South End of the Island
Mermaid’s offers great service, fresh dairy products and quality meat! If you’re craving Captain Crunch or a Starbucks iced coffee, you’ll get it here too.
Maria's Fruits & Vegetables
In a new location across from the Yacht Club, Maria’s is your one-stop island shop for the freshest fruit and veg and local tropical juices.
Marina’s is a small well-priced store south of town. You’re likely to find what you need.
La Divina Providence Grocery
A little further south, this small grocery store and restaurant has some of the best prices on the island and serves up a cheap yet delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner on the shaded outside patio.
Island City Supermarket
Half a mile south of the airport is Island Supermarket, the largest (and some say most expensive) supermarket in town with a great selection of products not available elsewhere
